If you follow us on social media you'll know we're not big fans of the cheap, throwaway bodyboards that you often find in supermarkets and the like. Using anything that is designed to be disposable is a sure-fire sign that it's going to be damaging to the environment and these crappy bodyboards really tick that box.
That's why here at Big Green we've been taking 2 big steps to help keep these polluting boards off our beaches.
Firstly we're stoked to be working with Vision Softboards in stocking the all-new Vision Slab Bodyboards in our rental range. The boards are made from recycled plastic pellets certified by Global Recycling Standard, they look great, they surf amazingly and they're super durable so will last a lifetime.
The added longevity and durability of the Vision Slab Bodyboard sets them apart from the cheap disposable boards that may only last a day before going to landfill, or worse, being left on the beach or in the ocean.
Secondly we're proud to have been continuing our support, alongside a host of other amazing organisations, of the Ocean Recovery Project to recycle broken bodyboards to save them from landfill. You may have seen the bodyboard bin by the entrance to the beach, these are collected up, stripped into their component parts and recycled into things like packaging, insulation and outdoor furniture.
